Dr. Gina Dimitropoulos

Dr. Gina Dimitropoulos is a Professor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary, with cross-appointments in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics. She holds the Research Excellence Chair in Transdisciplinary Research in Youth Mental Health and Continuity of Care. Dr. Dimitropoulos is an award-winning clinician, researcher, and mentor who has dedicated her career to bridging knowledge and practice in youth mental health.  Her areas of specialization include peer support, care transitions, treatment development, and system-level innovation.  Dr. Dimitropoulos is the Lead Research Scientist for Kickstand, advancing the implementation of a rapid Learning Health System (LHS) to support continuous quality improvement by assessing outcomes at the youth, family, and system levels. She leads national Tri-Council grants with multiple partners bringing methodological expertise in participatory action research, co-design approaches, qualitative and mixed methods and implementation science. She is a member of the College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists at the Royal Society of Canada. Dr. Dimitropoulos has over 25 years of clinical experience in both tertiary care and community-based settings delivering family-based treatments, group therapy, and individual counselling for adolescents and adults with mental health concerns.
